Web designers converging on Vancouver

Web Directions North is a web development conference happening in Vancouver for two days at the end of January. Students get 75% off (for a total of $200), and for $120 more you can join them for a snow day at Whistler. Naturally local folks Dave Shea of CSS Zen Garden fame and Boris Mann of Bryght will be speaking, but they’re also flying in various notables, such as Daniel Burka of Digg and Chris Messina of varietous open source fame. Anyone interested in going?

    Hells yeah!

Well, more for the CSS Zen Garden and less for the Bryght. Too much Drupal makes Curtis a sad panda.

It looks like I’ll get my first chance to play with Drupal this Christmas break (at work). It seems to be The Big Thing here in Vancouver, so I’m inclined to see for myself if it’s truly a competitor to sliced bread.

It’s actually really cool, but the last time I used it, the default navigation & site-layout had.. difficult navigation.

Interesting. Sensible defaults are an under-appreciated art in open source.
